He captures Tiny Firefly, a physically deformed but gentle member of the family. In a shocking reversal, Otis manages to break free and turn the tables. A brutal shootout follows, leaving most of Wydell’s men dead. The sheriff himself is wounded and helpless.

Badly injured but alive, Otis, Baby, and Spaulding steal a car and drive toward the Mexican border. Their bodies are broken, but their spirits remain defiant.

Instead of surrendering, the trio hold hands, smile at each other, and accelerate directly into the wall of gunfire.
