Opening / Act I – The Ghost of the Wilderness

The film begins with sweeping visuals of the American frontier: snow-covered peaks, roaring rivers, and endless forests. A haunting narration overlays:
“The wilderness does not forgive. It only remembers.”

We see Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) years after the events of The Revenant. His body is battered, scarred from the bear attack and battles with nature, but he has survived. Now living in solitude, he keeps to the woods, hunting and trading occasionally with fur companies and nearby Native tribes. Despite his isolation, his mind is haunted by vivid nightmares — visions of his murdered son Hawk, the bear attack, and the vengeance he once carried out against Fitzgerald.

Glass’s fragile peace is shattered when a new wave of fur trappers and mercenaries enter the frontier. These men are not mere hunters — they are ruthless profiteers, burning villages, killing families, and enslaving survivors to seize control of the land and its resources.

Meanwhile, the antagonist is revealed: a powerful warlord named Captain Beaumont, a former military officer turned mercenary leader. Brutal, intelligent, and commanding a small army of trappers and deserters, Beaumont declares the frontier his kingdom: “This land belongs to those strong enough to take it.”

Glass becomes a thorn in Beaumont’s side after ambushing a raiding party and saving captives. Beaumont vows to hunt him down, setting the stage for a personal war.
